Does pausing the player stop consuming downstream data?

The streaming data will still be received on the viewer if a stream is just paused.

You can verify bandwidth usage by opening an active Streaming API (Millicast) viewer stream. In Windows, open your task manager to see your incoming received bandwidth and then pause the viewer.

If you wish to stop dataflow for idle viewers you must close their connection.
